Yarnivore's Holiday Hours:

  • December 25 - 27 - Closed
  • December 28 - 31 - Open regular hours
  • January 1 - 5 - Closed to COUNT ALL THE THINGS!
    (also known as "Inventory")

We've got new yarns in at Yarnivore, though the camera, related as it is to a computer, isn't cooperating. You'll just have to take my word for it.

First up is an absolutely stunning 100% Tencel yarn from Prism called Delicato. It's a light fingering weight yarn, hand-dyed, and is simply incredible. The shine, the drape, the colors! It's almost beyond words beautiful. I have the Echo Flowers Shawl already planned for it and I can't wait to get started.

We've received a new shipment of Tinseltown, and still have a few colors left. We have two different reds, a variegated purple, a black/grey, and some white. There's still time to make an exciting scarf for holiday parties and the New Year!

Two new colors of Sol Del Grade, the cotton tape yarn, have arrived. One's variegated dark blues, the other variegated light blues. Time to get started on summer tops - this is Texas, after all, and summer will be here in, oh, February, right?

As far as tools go, Linda put me on to the sweetest crochet hooks. Made by The Lemonade Shop of Colorado, these are crochet hooks with whimsy. She uses polymer clay to cover and decorate the handles. Cupcakes, bumble bees, owls, hedgehogs, even a bright red crab dance across the ends. So often crocheters are left out of the whimsical tools - not any more!

Caracara is a lace weight Mohair blend in very long repeats of color. Carry them along with another yarn to ad some variation and fluff or knit a light-weight, fluffy item all by itself - it's your choice!

We've also received a few things for the Weavers! Two kits from Mountain Colors, a Windowpane Scarf kit that's suitable for the Cricket, Flip, or other rigid heddle loom, and the Overshot Scarf, which needs a four-harness loom. Each kit contains a pre-measured warp - how cool is that? And Debbi graciously wrote up a beautiful "How To Warp" booklet to help newer weavers put the Windowpane Scarf on the Cricket. Thanks, Debbi!

If you've read this far, your "gift" is breaking news of a Yarn Sale the week of December 28 - 31. We'll be closed from January 1 - 5 for inventory, and, if YOU buy the yarn (and books, and patterns, and needles, and, and, and) before the 1st, WE don't have to count it (and pay taxes on it!) So come on in, bring your friends, and enjoy the sale!

We wish you all a very happy holiday, and the very best for the new year!
