Classes

We offer all types of classes in knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving. Some of our classes are offered on a regular basis while some are offered as needed. Please browse the list below to find out more about our offerings. When you find the class you want to take, please check the Calendar to find out when your class is scheduled. Knitting Classes

Beginning Knitting – Cost: $30 plus supplies

Learn the basics and get yourself knitting! In this class you will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off using both the English and Continental styles of knitting. You will also learn how to combine knitting and purling to create different stitch patterns and textures, common knitting terms, and the basics of reading a pattern. This is a four hour class taught in two sessions.

Prerequisites: None!

Supplies: Worsted weight wool yarn in a light color and size 8 bamboo needles.

Intermediate Knitting - Cost: $45 plus supplies

Go beyond simply knitting rectangles! In this class you will learn different methods of increasing and decreasing and additional stitch patterns such as the drop stitch and basic lace. You will also learn how to knit in the round on circular and double point needles, as well as the Magic Loop technique and using two circular needles for small diameter knitting in the round - great for knitting two socks at one time! This is a four hour class in two sessions.

Prerequisites: Cast on, knit, purl, bind off

Supplies: Worsted weight yarn in a light color size 8 straight and double point needles, one size 8 16" circular needle, and one size 8 24" circular needle.

SiMonBeBeK (Six Months To Be A Better Knitter) – Cost: $180, plus supplies

Fixing Mistakes – Cost: $20, includes Handitool

Dropped stitches, purling when you wanted to knit, unwanted increases, decreases, and yarn overs - we've all done them at some point in our knitting. Learn how to fix these mistakes and overcome your fear of ripping down and ripping out!

Supplies: Supplies are provided

Prerequisites: Cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off

My First Knit Socks – Cost: $45 plus supplies

Learn to make socks from the cuff down! You'll make them using worsted weight yarn, so they’ll knit up quickly, and you’ll learn all the parts of a sock and how to make it fit perfectly!

Crochet Classes

Beginning Crochet – Cost: $30 plus supplies

In this beginner level class, learn to make the basic stitches used in almost all crochet projects. We’ll start by learning to make a foundation chain and the single crochet (sc) stitch, and move on to half double crochet (hdc) and double crochet (dc) stitches as time allows.

Crochet Socks – Cost: $45 plus supplies and book

Spinning Classes

Beginning Spindle Spinning - Private Lessons

Learn to spin on a spindle! It's portable. It's inexpensive! It's fun!! If you discover spinning is your calling, you'll find it easier to advance to wheel spinning if you're already adept at spindle spinning. We'll go through the stages of learning to spin, beginning with "park and draft" and then advance to unsupported spinning. We'll discuss types of fibers to spin and the unique characteristics of each. As time allows, we'll practice plying with a spindle.

Weaving Classes

Beginning Rigid Heddle Weaving - Private Lessons

Learn the basics of weaving on a rigid heddle loom. We'll cover weaving terminology, direct warping, winding and managing shuttles and achieving a balanced weave. As time allows, we will discuss weaving drafts, yarn choices for weaving and pattern planning and alternate methods of warping.
